Christmas Gift Idea: Braun Silk-expert IPL

braun-silk-expert-ipl-reviewDon’t you hate constant shaving, it’s such a waste of time, however, you can’t avoid it! Since always I have been complaining about the time-consuming shaving, because I think life could be so much easier if we would not need to shave every week or let’s be real, at least twice per week. I have been checking out laser hair removals and IPLs for a while now but never had the guts to actually book a session in a professional salon or actually invest in a professional hair removal. Luckily, I have people in my life that sometimes listen to what I say 😉 and I have been lucky enough to receive a pre-birthday present, and there it was Braun Silk-expert IPL. Happy days! If you still don’t know what to buy for your dearest friend this Christmas, then treat your woman in life with something special like the Braun Silk-expert IPL.

Braun Silk-expert IPL is a permanent visible hair removal with IPL technology. What IPL actually means is intense pulsed light. The difference between laser hair removal or IPL technology is that IPL will read your skin tone and adapt the light intensity to it, unlike laser hair removal treatments that just one specific wavelength emitted from the diode depending on what you’re targeting.

Why should you invest in buying the Braun Silk-expert IPL?

  •         It is very easy to use,
  •         It does not hurt at all, and
  •         You can save the time and money for doing the sessions at home.

How to use the Braun Silk-expert IPL?

First of all, you need to remove hair from the area you wish to treat. Then, depending on the area you can use 2 modes, gliding or precision. The gliding mode is recommended for larger areas (legs, arms), and precision mode for smaller, more delicate areas (face, underarms). You need to make sure the nozzle is in full contact with the skin to make sure the product works correctly. The product cannot be used above the upper lip or for the genital area, but it is safe to use on the bikini line.

It is promised to permanently remove visible hair in 4 – 12 weeks. In the first phase of your treatment, you are supposed to treat once a week for 4 – 12 weeks. Before the treatment, I use a white concealer to mark my legs which help me finish the treatment without missing a spot. I usually spend 10-15 minutes per each leg to finish the treatment. I am about to do my 3rd session this week, I will definitely keep you updated with the results.

Have you used any of the IPL products so far?

  Merry Christmas!

  1. Would love to hear how you get on with the results. I wonder if this works on very fair hair?

I will let you know Lisa if it works, I still have few treatments left before I should see the results! I found this on official Braun website: ‘ Braun Silk-expert is not suitable for everyone. It is most effective on light to medium skin tones with hair ranging from natural blonde to dark brown or black.” ->

  2. Fancy! I know a couple of ladies in my house who would be happy with this.

    • FashionMission

I am sure they would love it, but I can let you know in few weeks if it actually does what its supposed to do!

  3. I’ve always wanted something like this myself so I’d be interested in finding out if it worked and if you think it was worth it…

I used to have one of these and I remember it stinging, perhaps they have made them better now

    • FashionMission

It may sting slightly where you have a very thin skin, but it definitely does not hurt on legs or underarms! x

  5. I too had one a long time ago – when I was a teen and it hurt! I would love to try this one, I like the sound of it. Kaz x

Hi Shelly! It is completely safe to use it at home. I read online that some people buy goggles to protect eyes but according to Braun, IPL should not do any harm. I have never used an epilator before, I am a “chicken” when it comes to those things haha….Does it hurt? and how long does it last before you have to repeat the session? thanks for stopping by! x

      • Hello Sanja! Yeah kissing my skin 🙂 But using to reduce epilation pain few tips. 1. Take a Shower Beforehand 2. Exfoliating ( exfoliate properly, the dead cells are removed, which helps a lot in minimizing the number of ingrown hairs. ) 3. Hold the Skin Taut 4. Try a Wet & Dry Epilator. It’s helps me very less pain. And next session 3-4 weeks later.

  8. Great review! I’m currently using an epilator but looking to switch over to IPL. This one looks like a good choice.
What have your results been so far?

    • FashionMission

I do like the IPL and it does work if you repeat the treatments weekly. My hair stopped growing for few months (3 months). After few treatments, the IPL wasn’t so gentle anymore, it does hurt a bit which is slightly annoying. Overall, I would say it does the job.
