Sometimes I just don’t feel like taking photos outside, where I undoubtedly draw some attention from strangers passing by (I am sure many of you can relate to this) and my boyfriend gets uncomfortable. 🙂
That’s why, after some trial and error, I have come up with 3 tips about how to take photos from the comfort of your home.
When you don’t know where to place your hands or they turn out looking strange in the photo, grab your favourite mug, a bowl of fruit or a bag. Anything that you can literally hold with your hands will do the job. It also helps to add some colour and softness to your photo.
I have experimented with fruit this time. I am holding a piece of watermelon (sugar) 🙂 which automatically adds some playfulness and adds a different twist to the photo.
GRAB A CHAIR
Find a plain wall or book shelve and place a chair in front of it. Sitting down can be so versatile!
If you want to add a bit of length to your body, make sure you extend one leg towards the camera.
If you are shooting a direct facing shot and sitting on the chair, assure you have a nice posture and extend your neck. This will give an extra length to your body and it will also make it look fit.
PRACTICE DIFFERENT ANGLES
If you have a beautiful outfit and just a plain wall, all you have to do to bring the photo to the next level is playing with angles.
You have probably seen a lot of this on my photos:
Playing with my hair
Look left/right and putting hands on legs
I cannot emphasie more but beauty comes from within. I can’t get a great picture when I don’t feel myself. If the first couple of pictures turn out bad, don’t give up and just try different things (outfit, room etc).
To boost the morale a glass of wine has never let me down. 🙂
