It’s never too late to start working on that beach-ready body. I have a simple solution for you: eat less and work out more. Undoubtedly, this is easier said than done, but one easy way to overhaul your diet is to replace the ‘bad’ foods with the healthy. As you probably already know, exercising combined with bad food won’t give you your desired results. And guess what? It’s extremely important to eat healthy, nutritious food.
Don’t limit yourself too much, but at least try to swap those ‘not-so-healthy’ options with healthier substitutes. The best way to start the battle for that perfect body is with plants. Next time you go shopping, make sure to fill the basket with green veggies and fruits – the colour of plants is extremely important for cutting your fat intake, and green foods are universally known as the good ‘uns – most of them are loaded with fat-releasing nutrients. To help you lose belly fat, fill your shopping basket with these superfoods. You can thank me later!
Avocado is the good fat source that you should immediately add to your diet plan. Not only it is helping you reduce belly fat because of its low-calorie, vitamin-rich properties, it also has the proven ability to lower cholesterol and kill hunger pangs. People say an avocado a day helps keep the doctor at bay. Mayo lovers, swap your fave for smashed avocado.
Similarly to spinach, broccoli is low in calories but packed with essential nutrients, as well as being high in fibre and calcium. It fills you up while slowing digestion, making you eat less. Replace your daily intake of white rice with steamed broccoli.
Spinach is a low-calorie food loaded with fibre, which is beneficial when you’re trying to reduce your calorie intake for weight loss. It also has the canny ability to restore energy, increase vitality and improve the quality of the blood.
Kale is one of the most nutrient-dense veggies around. It has many benefits – allegedly helping ward off cancer, diabetes and more – plus it’s a powerful antioxidant. Eating more kale means you’re getting full without adding much in the way of calories or fat. Plus, it can help with your brain power! Replace tortillas with baked kale.
Grapefruit is known as the waist-slimming superfood. It is also loaded with numerous health benefits like Vitamin C, and the cancer-fighting antioxidant lycopene. Start your day with half a grapefruit – it’s considered a fat-burning food that can kick-start your metabolism for the hours ahead. Replace juice from concentrate with fresh juice from grapefruit.
Berries are another superfoods to add to your diet… and for good reason. Berries are full of antioxidants, meaning they can protect you from cell damage and help you fight that pesky belly fat. Replace sugar-laden mueslis with berries and, for full ‘plant power’, mix with soya yoghurt.
